Business License
Department: Finance - Revenue & Collections
If you engage in any business – either permanently or temporarily – within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City, you are required to maintain a valid, unexpired business license. Cashier
Department: Finance - Treasurer
Schedule any Treasurer’s Office cashiering services (water bill, parking & civil citations, building & planning permits, hive pass payment, business license renewals, and special assessments)
Collections Unit
Department: Finance - Revenue & Collections
Most parking/Civil citations are sent to the Salt Lake City Collection Unit after 41 days from the issue date. If your citation is over 41 days you may request to speak with a Collections Officer in person to resolve the matter.
Landlord Tenant Program - Rental Properties
Department: Finance - Revenue & Collections
Under this program, all residential rental properties, including single and double family homes, boarding houses and fraternities/sororities, require a business license. However, with participation in the Landlord/Tenant program, per unit licensing fees can be discounted by up to 95%.
Parking/Civil Hearing
Department: Finance
Contesting your parking/civil citation must include discussing the matter with a hearing officer for potential resolution. To dispute a ticket, you must request a hearing within 20 calendar days after the ticket was issued. However, a hearing officer can review your ticket from 21-40 days for potential resolution.
